Florida Keys beach fees explained: the 50-cent surcharge and every fee ladder

The short answer

Florida Keys beach fees, in the operators' words as posted October 24, 2026: state parks add a 50-cent Monroe County surcharge per person, so Pennekamp is $8 a vehicle plus 50 cents a person and Fort Zachary Taylor $6 plus 50 cents. Long Key and Curry Hammock post per-person ladders, Bahia Honda $8 a vehicle plus 50 cents a person as posted November 1, 2026, and the city and village beaches post no entry fee.

Wide panorama from under shade trees onto a sandy beach scattered with sunbathers, beach chairs and towels, a single palm trunk in the centre, and turquoise water running to a flat horizon under blue sky and white cumulus clouds. Keys beach fees look random until you see the pattern. The state parks charge per vehicle with a per-person add-on. Monroe County’s Harry Harris Park charges visitors from outside the county on weekends and holidays. The city and village beaches we track posted no entry fee at all, though two in Key West meter the parking. Below is every fee schedule in our inventory, with the operator’s own wording in the fact boxes and our arithmetic kept separate and labeled.

TL;DR, checked October 24, 2026

The 50 cents is a Monroe County surcharge per person, and Florida State Parks builds it into its Keys fees. As posted October 24, 2026: Pennekamp $8 a vehicle plus 50 cents a person; Fort Zachary Taylor $6 plus 50 cents a person; Curry Hammock $4.50 for one person up to $9 for eight. As posted November 1, 2026, Bahia Honda is $8 a vehicle plus 50 cents a person. Monroe County charges non-residents $15 a vehicle at Harry Harris on weekends and holidays.

Where the 50 cents comes from

Florida State Parks says it in the fee text itself. Fort Zachary Taylor lists its vehicle fee plus a 50-cent Monroe County surcharge per person, and the Long Key and Curry Hammock ladders say each price includes a 50-cent Monroe County surcharge per person. That is why a state park fee in the Keys depends on how many people are in the car. Bahia Honda’s page, as posted November 1, 2026, adds it to an $8 vehicle fee.

Every line of arithmetic below is ours, worked from the posted text. If a gate price differs from our sum, the gate is right; tell us, and we will recheck the operator page.
